USC ALZHEIMER’S
RESEARCH INSTITUTE
ConAm Building Co. was contracted to construct a medical research laboratory with state-of-the-art freezer storage for USC’s Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute. The medical space is divided in half to accommodate a freezer bank featuring fifty-two negative-eighty-degree Panasonic freezers and several liquid nitrogen tanks. This equipment required the construction of structural supports throughout. The complimentary laboratory features twelve formal lab stations, an incubator, two bio-safety cabinets, and an exhaust fume hood. This space also included two computer room AC units and the reworking of all mechanical systems. Just off-site, ConAm provided a generator with a new enclosure for emergency power.
